Everything in the library that applies to U8 players.
Age-group development
Why young players should play small-sided games

Technical and tactical coaching
How to coach 1v1 with U8 players
Help young players take on an opponent with confidence, and defend without diving in. What FIFA says, and simple cues you can use.
Supporting play: helping the player on the ball
What "support" means for young players, why movement without the ball matters, and how to coach it with questions rather than positions.
Drills and activities
1v1 to gates
Pairs play 1v1: the attacker scores by dribbling through any of several small gates. Lots of 1v1s, no queues, easy to adapt.
Find the space: 3v1 keep-ball
Three attackers keep the ball from one defender in a small box. The two without the ball must keep moving so the player on the ball always has a pass.
4v4 end-zone game
A small-sided game where teams score by dribbling or passing into the opponents' end zone. Every player attacks, defends and makes decisions.

Preparing your players before a tournament

Tournament day: welfare, warm-ups, hydration and rotation
Keeping children safe and involved across a long day: warm-ups, drinks, heat, first aid, sharing playing time and rotating goalkeepers.
Coaching during matches: what to say, and what not to
Short talks, calm encouragement, simple messages and letting children decide: how to coach from the sideline without overloading young players.
After the tournament: turning matches into learning
What to say straight after, how to run a short reflection a day or two later, and how to turn what you saw into your next training sessions.
Preparing an U8 team for a tournament
